Residential Colleges (RCs) at HKUST(GZ) are integral to this enriching learning environment; equally important, RCs provide a personable, supportive setting for student growth. In such a vibrant living-learning community, students from diverse backgrounds and professional aspirations are encouraged to form a unique, life-long network with each other. Throughout their university journey, students in RCs receive supports from a dedicated team of RC Masters, staff, academic advisors, tutors, and peers.
Position Overview:
An RC Master at HKUST(GZ) is pivotal in shaping the College's identity and fostering its distinctive culture. As a norm, a Master resides within the College to lead the residential activities as well as to nurtures a strong sense of belonging among residents of about 500 undergraduate students.
Additionally, a Master is responsible for managing the administration, management, events, and overall operations of the College. This role entails a steadfast commitment to the welfare and development of undergraduate students, as well as maintaining standards of conduct consistent with the consensus within the RC.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Student Engagement and Informal Learning
?Develop and deliver a variety of structured and informal co-curricular programs that enhance residential life and experiential learning.
?Partner with faculty, staff, and students to bridge academic and extracurricular pursuits, fostering holistic student growth and engagement.
?Monitor students' academic progress and provide support as necessary in partnership with academic advisors who are faculty members of Hubs/Colleges.
?Reinforce compliance with academic and undergraduate regulations and procedures, maintaining university standards.
2. Administration and Leadership
?Manage the College's administration, including training, coaching, and leading both residential and non-residential faculty and staff, in collaboration with other RC Masters.
?Formulate, implement, review, and enhance policies and operating procedures within the College in alignment with the University Policy Framework.
?Oversee the performance of the RC operational system by fostering effective partnerships with other campus units, academic advisors, personal tutors, and peer buddies. Ensure that these setups are fit for purpose while providing guidance and constructive feedback to the University for continuous improvement.
?Plan and manage the College's operating budget and financial operations.
?Address and manage crisis situations effectively within the College.
3. Community Building and Welfare
?Strengthen the affiliation among residents with the University, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.
?Collaborate with university planners to design spaces that are functional, innovative, and reflect the diversity of the student body, supporting both social and academic needs.
?Design and implement initiatives that enhance student well-being and support their overall welfare.
?Champion a multicultural community by organizing events that celebrate global perspectives (e.g., cultural festivals, language exchanges) and nurture dynamic interactions.
?Contribute to university committees, offering insights and recommendations for institutional enhancement.
?Collaborate with academic and administrative units to elevate the student experience and promote academic excellence and international outlook.
4. All Other Duties as Assigned

This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST(GZ) entity in accordance with the Mainland labor laws and regulations. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
